How to Make a QR Code Menu for a Restaurant or Cafe
A QR code menu saves printing costs and is easy to update. Here is how to set one up well.
1. Put your menu on a web page
Use a mobile-friendly web page or a PDF hosted online. Avoid a huge PDF: it loads slowly on mobile data, and slow menus frustrate guests.
2. Use a short, stable link
Link to an address such as yourdomain.com/menu and change what that page shows when the menu changes. The code you printed then never needs to be replaced.
3. Generate the code
Open the generator, choose URL, paste your link, and add a call to action such as "Scan for the menu" using a frame.
4. Print it properly
- Download SVG for sharp printing.
- Use at least 3 to 4 cm on a table card, larger for wall signs.
- Choose a matte finish to avoid glare from lights and candles.
5. Place it where people can reach it
Put a code on every table and one at the entrance. Make sure it is not under a glass top that reflects light.
6. Have a backup
Keep a few paper menus for guests without a phone or with a poor signal, and test the code on a few phones before opening.
